We are proud to announce that Jay Mack Community Foundation has been selected as a partner site for the Humanities @ Work internship program at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Through this collaboration, we have welcomed two talented student interns who will be supporting our programs, outreach efforts, and community initiatives this year.

Carmen Jones is a sophomore majoring in African American Diaspora Studies. She is deeply passionate about advancing educational equity and strengthening communities by supporting children and empowering working families. Carmen is especially interested in initiatives that increase access, opportunity, and belonging.

Brooklynn Martin is a junior studying English and Economics. She is passionate about helping young people better understand their post–high school options and career pathways. She brings strong communication skills and analytical thinking to her work. Outside of academics, she enjoys reading and playing rugby.

Throughout their internship, Carmen and Brooklynn will contribute to program support, event development, community outreach, and research projects — including a student-led career workshop capstone event.

CEO Douglas Pearsall shared, “Investing in student leaders today strengthens the communities we will serve tomorrow. We’re proud to provide real opportunities for interns to lead, learn, and contribute in meaningful ways.”

Executive Director Lakeshia Pearsall added, “Our internship model is built on mentorship and impact. We want every intern to understand how their work connects directly to youth, families, and community outcomes.”

We are excited for the year ahead and grateful for this partnership that connects learning with service.
